Research Experience for Teachers at Columbia University
CS3 RET is a four-week summer program for New York City high school teachers. Participants study machine learning, computer vision, and urban sensing and develop classroom projects.

Meet the CS3 AI Teaching Kit.
The hybrid kit combines a Jetson Orin Nano Super, 30 sensors, more than 50 lectures, hands-on computer vision demonstrations, and agentic coding workflows.
Program format
Teachers work with CS3 researchers at Columbia.
Teachers join Columbia faculty and graduate researchers for projects in computer vision and urban sensing. Sessions cover the methods, datasets, and tools used in CS3 research.
Teachers use this work to prepare lessons and a final project for their students.

Week 1
Introduction: From Machine Learning to Agentic AI
Neural networks, circuits, machine learning, computer vision, agentic workflows, and responsible AI.

Week 2
Experiments for Students
Object tracking, language models, and object detection with NYC data.

Week 3
Various Topics on Vision and AI
Depth estimation, model evaluation, and edge deployment.

Week 4
Advanced Topics and Presentation Prep
AI demonstrations, lesson plan work, and final presentations.
